hey if there is anyone from the schweinfurt area that would like to maybe get together one day that would be awesome. we have been here on kessler field now for about 6 months and i've only made like one friend. im trying to find some women with small children as well. i have a 17 month old son who really needs some kids to play with. and im in some need of a few friends myself. my husband is gonna be deploying in about 3 months and i want to stay here but i feel so alone at times.

Re: schweinfurt moms

I'm not in Schweinfurt, but I am nearby in Bamberg. I know what you mean about feeling alone sometimes. I have made a few friends and I'm active in our FRG, but it still seems so lonely when my husband's away. He will also be deploying soon. We have two kids a boy and a girl. Our girl is 3 and our boy is about 15 months. Although we're not right next door to each other we're not that far either....so if you ever feel like talking maybe we can get together some time and my email is always open. nsklucas@yahoo.com

Re: schweinfurt moms

Exactly. i am new to Bamberg and my hubs will be deploying soon and this whole process has been overwhelming, i have a son that is also 15 months and he could use a friend too. lol i would love to meet wives from the area especially with just being told we can not move home while our soldiers are deployed. by the way does anyone know anything about the lines of that? please email or write me fcaballero520@yahoo.com

Re: schweinfurt moms

well we have decided now to move home while my husband is deployed since i am expecting our second child. and you can move home on your own expense. you have to let housing know you are going to be gone more than 30 days and they will not give you cola each month but you will not lose your housing. im not sure who told you that you could not go home. were just leaving everything here. im gonna be staying with my parents back home. i have someone thats going to come check on things and start both my vehicles and what not. if you have phone and internet you will have to cancel your contract but if you have documentation stating that your husband is deploying then you wont have to pay the penalty fee. however you will have to pay to start it back on upon your return here to germany. you will also have to switch your tricare over as soon as you get in the states seeing as the overseas insurance will not cover you there. in our situation. since were having another child in the states i will have to get comand sponsorship and new orders with the new childs name on them. its alot of paperwork and what not but you can go home and i think it is totally worth it in my situation. im afraid to get stuck here having complications during my pregnancy or go into labor and my husband not be here.

Re: schweinfurt moms

frankic: I would be glad to meet up with you some time to let the little ones play. As for not being able to move home....it's like danyellie3288 was saying: you can move home, but it would be at your own expense, and like she said, you loose cola if you're gone for more than 30 days. Housing you don't loose, they just ask that you have a local point of contact in case anything should happen while you are away they can have acess to the house. For example...if a pipe were to burst they would need to be able to check for damage and make any repairs. I decided to stay here for the deployment, although I miss my family greatly and have since contemplated going home for a few months. As it is, I will at least go home for one month around his R & R.

Re: schweinfurt moms

I am also In Schweinfurt and looking to meet some normal moms to have lunch with or go for a walk with.  I have a 2 year old son and a 2 month old son. We have been here almost a year and it has been hard meeting people for some reason...if anyone wants to set something up or chat via e-mail please let me know.  I agree with frankic, It would be nice to talk to someone else besides my hubby!
